Magnolia

In April 2021 I took a day to visit National Trust garden Glendurgan to draw giant Magnolia flowers before they started losing their petals. I was getting my knickers in a twist thinking I might have missed them in all their glory, but luckily I made it in time and was treated to some sunshine and a cool, crisp breeze.

Such a sight to see, Magnolias bloom any time between February and June (depending on their variety) and can grow up to 12" in width. Have you ever eaten one of their petals? They taste of ginger and are known to be foraged for use in pudding dishes - who knew!?
