'Time To Play' Launch Party, Stone's Bakery

If you have been following DARN’s story for a while you will know how a sense of play is at the core of everything we do.

As a real amalgamation of this, we hosted our ‘Time To Play’ launch party at Stone’s Bakery in Falmouth, in celebration of our two latest 100% silk scarf designs - Dan's Chess Board and Quillie’s Backgammon Set. Offering two classic games in silky form, the designs are available in two sizes and double up as either a chess board or backgammon board, so whether you’re at home or on the move, you will be able to invite a friend (or someone new) to a game at a moments notice! Inviting friends and strangers from near and far to enjoy a drink (very kindly supplied by local brewery Verdant Brewing Co Ltd) and challenge one another to a game or two, we set the mood with giant DARN scarves as bunting, used fresh baguettes as candlestick holders and the soundtrack of Jacque Tati’s ‘Playtime’ (1967) provided a backdrop of sound (listen here). Everyone was welcome, including both board game connoisseurs and novices and we also enjoyed seeing pairs teach one another trips and tricks for these familiar favourite games.

Whilst enjoying checkerboard battenberg cake, fondant fancies and homemade biscuits by Olli of Stone’s Bakery. A signature touch of ours that we always love to include are tables covered in plain paper with pens and pencils provided to allow players to draw out their game plans, or simply to doodle the evening away!
